When viewing the intensely expressive artistry of Thomas van der Krogt, I immediately feel as if a magical bridge has appeared between Past and Future. This bridge touches a realm where Medieval Printmaking informs German Expressionism, sending it across the now tech-fueled artifice, cant and miasma of modern "art" into an emerging reality wherein Glamour gives way to Gnosis.

Thomas belongs to a particular School of Spirit which may be understood as a Divine Current moving through Time, undaunted and unimpeded by any fleeting fashion (aesthetic, social or political). This School has infused numerous human endeavors throughout history and its votaries have duly kept the Temple's Flame alive. In the Arts, it is not enough to attach oneself to an Idea. One must TRANSMIT that Idea by BECOMING it. This Shamanic Activity is evidenced in the art of Thomas van der Krogt. His subject matter is enlivened with raw elemental energy. He takes up pen and blade to call ink into service as a vehicle connecting Spirit and Matter.

If you look closely into these images (effortlessly arising into the "van der Krogt Mindspace"), you will be exposed to numerous radiations. These all work together like sounded keys on a piano. There is force, angst and power, punching through the membrane of perception. These are balanced with good humor, kindness and joy. Behind it all we find a depth of wisdom which renders us silenced, open and unfolding in the most surprising ways.

As we plunge along with our lives, aging by the moment, leaping from pleasure to pain and back again, we would do well to take a moment and avail ourselves of the "van der Krogt Gateways" which lead us to the Bridge. We may find ourselves becoming that Bridge in a moment of contemplation and enjoyment.
