Thomas van der Krogt’s art draws from extensively from his own visionary experience. Of Dreams of Woden he writes:

I had a dream in which Huginn and Muninn led me to the old man himself under an ancient tree. Him and I chatted for a little while, as we do on a regular basis. At one point he turns to me, really focusing on me with his blind eye and says to me "alright, sonnyboy, time to get to work" and smacks me in the head. Instantly were sitting down. I feel as if I'm on fire... "here's what I want you to do he says, pay close attention now" he produces a slab of wax "this wax contains herbs" he says "try making your prints from that." he starts carving and reaches over to take my hands... His hands feel icy cold... Soon though, I don't notice it anymore because his hands are my hands and in my dream I'm full of Óðr... My sense of self isn't there and it's him working through me.. After what seems like, well I actually have no idea how long, I kind of start getting a sense of myself again. He turns to me and says "did you catch that?" I answer in the affirmative and he explains how to work magic using this technique... Anyhow that's a little snippet from the dream diary. Naturally when I woke up I made this piece.

The pictures in order show the finished print. The wax slab. The inked up plate that I inked with my finger as instructed. The plate after it was printed and the print and matrix together

4”x6” 10 cm x15.2 cm on Strathmore 400 Series Printmaking paper

Please note, van der Krogt is truthful in his description of how this piece was created. As such, some may regard it as a “charged” work or amulet.
